Trained Assistance Dogs

Sunrise Service Dogs recognizes the urgent and growing need to provide people with disabilities access to service dogs that can help them with daily activities such as retrieving items, opening doors, and providing emotional support. However, our ability to match fully trained dogs is limited by the number of generous volunteers to raise a service dog puppy. Raising a service dog puppy can make a real difference in someone's life - won’t you please consider becoming a puppy raiser today?

We do not presently have fully-trained adult dogs available for team matching with our clients. However, we can help if you are eligible to raise a Sunrise Service Dogs purpose-bred puppy or have a qualified adult dog.

By completing the Interest Form below, you will provide our team with the necessary information about your current needs and interests. Completing the Interest Form is the first step in your journey.

Puppy nursery

It begins with a puppy! Through careful selection and tender loving care, we breed our own puppies. We provide thorough early socialization aimed at providing experiences to help our puppies become future service dogs. Our breeding program currently consists of purpose-pred and purebred Old English Sheepdogs, Golden Retrievers, and Labrador Retrievers.

Puppy raising

Our puppies are raised in loving homes through the generosity of dedicated volunteers who teach them how to navigate the world and learn assistance dog basics. Puppy raisers are some of the most generous people you’ll meet!

Service dogs

At about 18 months, our puppies are ready to begin learning tasks specific to the individuals they’ll partner with. A Sunrise Service Dog that is prepared to pass our public access test with their human partner has hundreds of hours of training experience to be a sound service dog.
